As both consoles approach the later stages of their lifecycle, the competition between Xbox Series X|S and PS5 sales is intensifying. With Microsoft’s recent push through Game Pass, has the Xbox managed to overtake Sony’s PS5? Here are the details…

According to the latest sales comparison report from VGChartz, the PlayStation 5 continues to widen the gap between itself and the Xbox Series X|S globally. As of last month, which marks 44 months since both consoles were launched, the PS5 has reached a total of 59.30 million units sold, while the Xbox Series X|S lags behind with 29.06 million units sold.

The data shows that just last month, the PS5 sold 684,213 more units than its competitor, further solidifying Sony’s market dominance. Even more striking is the fact that over the past 12 months, the PS5 has outsold the Xbox Series X|S by a staggering 13.03 million units. Despite Microsoft’s innovative services like Game Pass, the hardware sales figures show that the Xbox Series X|S is still trailing far behind the PS5.

PS5 Sales Indicate the Approach of an Unfortunate Conclusion!

As Sony closes another financial quarter, the company has made official statements regarding PS5 sales and financial revenues.

In terms of market share, the PS5 is the clear leader with 67.1%, marking a 3.2% increase from the previous year. The Xbox Series X|S holds a 32.9% market share, which represents a 3.2% decrease from last year.

In conclusion, the PlayStation 5 is currently leading by a margin of 30.24 million units over the Xbox Series X|S worldwide. Unless there is a significant surprise, it looks like the PS5 will emerge as the clear winner of this console generation.
