According to the latest sales comparison report from VGChartz, the PlayStation 5 continues to widen the gap between itself and the Xbox Series X|S globally. As of last month, which marks 44 months since both consoles were launched, the PS5 has reached a total of 59.30 million units sold, while the Xbox Series X|S lags behind with 29.06 million units sold.
The data shows that just last month, the PS5 sold 684,213 more units than its competitor, further solidifying Sony’s market dominance. Even more striking is the fact that over the past 12 months, the PS5 has outsold the Xbox Series X|S by a staggering 13.03 million units. Despite Microsoft’s innovative services like Game Pass, the hardware sales figures show that the Xbox Series X|S is still trailing far behind the PS5.
In terms of market share, the PS5 is the clear leader with 67.1%, marking a 3.2% increase from the previous year. The Xbox Series X|S holds a 32.9% market share, which represents a 3.2% decrease from last year.
